Every car uses either a timing chain or a timing belt. The belt is quieter than a chain so many newer vehicles are switching to a belt. A disadvantage to this is that timing belts will need to be replaced approximately every 60,000 miles. If the belt is not replaced as recommended, you run the risk of damaging the engine. The vehicle will stop immediately and you may incur costly repairs. Always follow the manufacturer’s recommendation for timing belt replacement.
